Steve’s Boat Building An amateur’s attempt to build a strip plank dinghy

Fitting out the hull

I have been playing with detailing, so progress has been slow, but there has been some progress. In the photos below you can see the bulkheads, with the forward one fitted with waterproof hatches to the forward buoyancy compartment. There are also oak central deck beams fore and aft with a 2mm mahogany strip centrally. This theme is echoed along the centre of the boat internally, with a 2mm oak stripe in mahogany. I have also started framing the oar storage holes cut into the deck supports. The thwart is fitted. Just gunwales, floor supports, floor, seat and decks to go, and then I can start on my strip-plank mast.
